Pink Shoes

I had started this post, but I forgot to finish it.  About a month or so ago we went into a shoe store and Nathan wanted some pink converse.  I asked him a couple of times if he was sure, but I was asking in a tone that was trying to talk him out of it.  While I was doing that I had to catch myself and tell myself that to him these shoes are just a color and he doesn't associate pink with being a girl's color.  I also thought about how many girls wear the color blue and it is not an issue.  Whenever he does wear these shoes he almost always gets a reaction from someone the first time they see them.  The reaction is usually positive and the people say that they like his pink shoes, but I don't know if they are serious or not.  I actually do like them.  The funny part of this story to me is that there is one mom that I am friends with and she wrote this FB post about how she doesn't like how pink is associated with girls and her daughter was upset one day at school because some boys were teasing her because she liked the color pink.  Well, it turns out that this girl has been the only one to tease Nathan about wearing pink shoes!  I guess that she learned in her preschool that pink is only for girls :(.

Incase you were wondering, the tie was a father's day craft that we did and Nathan colored it pink (it was the same day we got the shoes}.  Once we got home he decided that he didn't want to wear a shirt and just wanted to wear the above outfit.  The kid definitely does not have a good fashion sense, but I don't mind!  And his foot is almost as big as mine!
